JANUARY  2009

Welcome back!  We hope you had a safe and happy holiday!  As a reminder, the studio will only be closed for Spring Break in March.  We will not close for all the 1-day Federal holidays that seem to abound in the Spring semester.  Please take note of our studio schedule below.

Remember, when if you are unable to attend your class, we always recommend that you make the class up by attending another comparable class.  Just let the teacher know that you are making up a class.

The cancelled Tues., December16th Open House class has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 13th.

CALENDAR

            February 9 – 14        Open House/Valentine’s Day Parties

March 16 – 21           Closed for Spring Break

            April 12                    Happy Easter

            April 20 – 25            Picture Week

NUTCRACKER – The 2008 production was a huge success with a sold out audience.  Congratulations students on a job well done!  Don’t forget to return your Nutcracker costumes pronto.  We need to clean, count and store them before the recital costumes start coming in.

THE RECITAL 2009 LINE-UP will be posted in many places around the studio and on the web site by the end of January.  Please take a look to see if you or your child has any back-to-back costume changes.  Students that are in 3 or more classes can expect to have only 1 or 2 dances in which to change costumes.  There are some tricks to fast changes and we will be happy to share them with you.  Please notify Carol Ann in writing of any costume changing issues.

BALLROOM DANCE  - We will have a special dance in the recital for parents.  Margaret will teach a couples dance to a medley of Swing, Salsa and Country western.  Rehearsals will be on Friday evenings from 8:00 – 9:00. There will be no charge for this.  Sign up at the front desk.  Classes begin Feb. 20.

DRILL TECHNIQUE class is open to all students in M.S. and H.S. to prepare them for spring drill auditions at the local schools.  Technique is Saturdays from 10:30 to 11:30 am.  Most schools hold auditions in March and April.  Don’t wait until March to prepare!  We also recommend Contemporary and Hip Hop classes.

LOST-N-FOUND is very crowded.  Please check inside the dressing room bench for your lost items.

CHILDREN'S DAY OUT:  One Friday a month we will sponsor a children’s day out from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.  Children ages 2 – 6 will experience dance, tumbling, drama, creative play, games, music, and arts and crafts.  The cost is $30 for one child and $20 for the second child.  Reservations are required.  Children will need to bring a sack lunch and a nap mat.

BRRRRRR:  With Winter weather and the possibility of icy roads approaching, please use common sense in deciding whether to come to class.   If the roads are too bad to travel on then we will not be able to get to the studio to put a message on the answering machine.  You can assume we are closed.  We always recommend making classes up by attending another comparable class.

Carol Ann has started working on the Summer Schedule.  Please email your requests and suggestions to the studio, attention Carol Ann.

Our Lost and Found box already has items in it.  Please check it at least once a month to reclaim those wayward belongings.  Lost and Found is inside the long bench inside the dressing room.

GENERAL INFO: A few things you can do that will help us provide the best learning and dancing environment for our dancers are:

bullet

To keep our dance floors in the best condition for our dancers, please do not wear dance shoes outside.  Please check tap shoes for loose screws which can cut the floor.  Wipe off street shoes on the provided mats or remove shoes before entering dance rooms.

bullet

If your child is sick, please keep them at home and let us know.  We encourage you to make up any missed classes by attending another age and level appropriate class.

bullet

Please label all clothing and shoes with your child’s name.  The lost and found is located in the dressing room inside the long bench.

bullet

If you want to recognize your child’s birthday at the studio, please let the teacher know a week in advance.  Cookies, cupcakes and juice boxes are allowed.  We will hand out party invitations if every child is to get one.  Check out our dance birthday parties.  They are becoming quite popular!

bullet

Get in the habit of checking our website for the monthly newsletters and Team news and Ballet Department news.

bullet

Don’t forget that you can have your credit card automatically charged monthly tuition and all fees.  The form for this service is located at the front desk or click here.  All credit information is kept in a secured location.

bullet

We have a suggestion box located near the front desk.  We would love to hear what we are doing that you like, any suggestions to better serve you and any recognition you would like to give teachers or office staff.
